Maddie and James’s black and white themed wedding at La Valencia Hotel was the perfect way to end 2023. Their New Year’s Eve wedding on the coast of San Diego was truly a timeless celebration. Some of my favorite details from the wedding day were Maddie’s white Manolo Blahniks and emerald-cut engagement ring, and a modern invitation suite by Ettie Kim.

The bride exuded beauty and sophistication in a sleek, tailored gown from Bella Bianca Bridal Couture. A high pony tail and ethereal makeup by KC Witkamp completed her bridal look. Looking perfectly dapper, James wore a black velvet tuxedo jacket from BLVDier.

The La Valencia property has beautiful Mediterranean architecture and old-world charm. The wedding venue was the perfect canvas for a black and white themed wedding. To create a monochromatic color palette, the florals were all white roses, carnations, baby’s breath, and orchids. The bridesmaids wore their choice of black satin gowns, and the groomsmen wore slim-cut tuxedos in black.

The sun set as Maddie and James’s wedding ceremony took place overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The day was especially noteworthy as giant waves rolled in due to the king tides in San Diego. Maddie’s brother-in-law officiated the heartfelt ceremony.

The New Year’s Eve wedding reception was enchanting. The bridal party sat at a row of long black starburst tables, adorned with lots of romantic candlelight and white floral arrangements. Laser cut name place cards and custom menu cards added to the modern style. Following an extended cocktail hour on the hotel’s front patio, Maddie and James danced the night away with their guests and rang in the new year!
