Billy and Fumiko’s Martin Johnson House wedding stole my heart for a number of reasons. The location was breathtaking, set on the cliffs of La Jolla. As a smaller San Diego venue, it was perfect for intimate gatherings and celebrations. But what I adored the most about this wedding was the couple. From their story, to their attire, to their amazing first dance, everything about them was lovable.
Fumiko looked perfectly ethereal in the kimono that she wore for the ceremony. It had shades of ivory, blue and gold with red accessories. Fresh orchids adorned her hair. Billy looked dapper in his Naval officer’s uniform.
The flow of the wedding day was less formal, and more celebratory. Guests arrived to a beautiful cocktail hour, and were invited to either remain standing or have a seat for the ceremony. Once the ceremony ended, cocktail hour continued as the sun set.
For the reception, Fumiko wore a beaded, sparkly gown with a low-cut back. It was perfect for swing dancing the night away.
